In 2007, Cristian Mungiu's "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" became the first Romanian film to win the Palme d'Or at Cannes. At this time, there were fewer than 50 cinemas in Romania, so it was arranged for a 35mm print to be taken on a tour of the provinces to provide people with an opportunity to see the landmark film.
