On a summer Sunday in Montreal, an eighty-year-old Italian named Carolina meets Yolaine, a thirty-year-old Cuban. In the 1950s, Carolina was married to a Québécois man with Italian roots. Yolaine has come to Montreal to rejoin Frank—another Québécois of Italian background—who is showing himself to be macho and aggressive.
