Thomas Terpin. James Riding and Jack Hazard are sitting in the club when the talk drifts to a daring housebreaker, whom the police are powerless to capture. Jack makes a wager with Terpin that he can rob and get away with it. Terpin takes him up and agrees to pay a forfeit of $100 of Jack returns to the club within three hours with something valuable he has stolen.
