Aleksandr Nikolaevich Baranov (Kazakh: Александр Николаевич Баранов; born March 20, 1955; Alma-Ata) is a Soviet, Kazakh and Russian film director, screenwriter and producer. In 1985 he graduated from the script Department of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S. A. Gerasimov. He acted as a director, screenwriter and producer of the film "Shanghai" (1996), which received the prize of the Kiev festival "Golden Knight". He has been working in Timur Bekmambetov's team since 2011. One of the directors of the film "Christmas Trees 2" (2011).
