Nikola Krsmanović lives outside Belgrade in an unfinished house. He drives a taxi at night and hasn't had a drink for a year. Nikola's ex-wife Maja, married a respectable man, lives with Nikola's daughter in a nice house in the wider city center. Nikola left his job in the police, now works as a driver and protector of elite prostitutes. During one incident, Nikola beats up a banker who attacked one of his wards, and after the banker is found dead, Nikola becomes the prime suspect.
