Nadya rescues her sister Ulia, who has been held by an extortionist. Nadya tries to explain that she is not in the position to pay back the money but the man leaves Nadya and her sister after giving her a week's notice. Meanwhile, Kolia thanks Lucia for being with his mother. Later, Lucia seeks his permission to invite Nadya and Ulia to celebrate the bithrday of her mother-in-law. Kolia agrees and also remebers that Nadya's birthday too falls on the same date. Kolia realizes that Irina is not home in spite tha fact that it is past her usual time for returning home.
