These educational public service announcements began running on Canadian television in the early 1960's. They were produced by the Canadian Wildlife Service (a division of Environment Canada) to promote knowledge and respect of Canada's vast wilderness. In the process the spots and their haunting theme music (used in the SCTV spoof) have taken on an almost cult-like status in Canada.
