The circumstances of Magda's disappearance seem increasingly ghostly. Other incidents and residents of the sleepy village also puzzle Lara. 15-year-old Aaron Wagner is a new addition to Lara's class. The introverted boy's mother seeks Lara's help. She is strangely worried that her divorced husband is forcing the boy to perform strange rituals. Lara takes on the matter and quickly finds herself confronted with forces that cannot come from this world. Lara finds allies in the esoterically gifted alternative practitioner Dorothea Freiberg (Sabine Vitua) and the emeritus professor Rudolf Klein (Peter Franke).
