We're introduced to our protagonist Minakami Yuki, smoking on the rooftop of a department store. There, she has a mysterious encounter with her socially awkward, shy classmate Mamiya Takuji. She's surprised he even had the courage to approach her to strike up a conversation with her. When she's lost in her thoughts, he suddenly vanishes from her sight. Yuki heads to a CD shop in Suginomiya, to buy a new CD from her favorite band. On the way there, she runs into her childhood friends - the twins Wakatsuki Kagami and Tsukasa. Yuki jokes around with them, pretending not to know Kagami and brushing off her commitment at her part-time job.
