When 10-year-old boy Vernie Mitchell makes a quick run to the store in Trenton, NJ in January 1976, he runs into a nightmare instead. He was found deceased with 47 stab wounds and severe blunt trauma to his head. A strange slew of suspects pops out of the woodwork, but the case goes cold.
