Laxmibai begins the intricate task of preparing for the ritual. Sakhubai plans to take advantage of Gangadhar's absence, and sit on the throne. But her plan is foiled when Gangadhar returns. Laxmibai is surprised to find Tatya Guru in Datiya, but she firmly refuses to go back with him. Laxmibai continues with the preparations without taking anyone's help.
